White sneakers are a fashionable and versatile choice. What should you do if you wear them with joy but the upper is dirty?
Preparation tools:
Shoe stretchers: These are great for keeping your shoes in shape while you clean them. In a pinch, you can stuff your shoes with newspaper or old t-shirts and rags.

Sponge blocks: To clean solid surfaces on shoes, any type of melamine sponge will work well – they have just the right amount of abrasiveness to remove dirt without damaging the underlying surface.
Soft toothbrush or nail brush: Use one of these to gently scrub away dirt.
Dishwashing liquid: We use seventh generation dish soap or Dawn, but whatever you have on hand should be fine.
OxiClean (for heavy stains): Use with caution, but on canvas sneakers, OxiClean removes dirt that would otherwise refuse to budge.

General Material Treatment: To help the shoe retain its shape, first fill the shoe with a shoe tree or something else such as rags or newspaper. Doing so will make the shoe easier to handle and provide cushioning to absorb any fluid that happens to seep.
If you have a shoe brush, use it to remove loose dirt. An old toothbrush, soft nail brush or even a soft cloth will work too. The goal here is to remove all the dust and grime without pushing it deeper into the material.
